A tribute to summer dreams. To the memories of the child who lives inside each of us. With the pride of being Latin. With Parisian savoir-faire. To Miami sunsets. To easy-going as a lifestyle. To art. In the summer. And to love.
Esteban Cortázar (Bogotá, 1984) is a child. A precocious, intuitive and artistic child. A child who wakes up surrounded by the paintings of his father, the artist Valentino Cortázar, with the sea breeze, the palm trees dancing with the seagulls and the buzz of people reaching the beach. From her window at the Avalon Hotel in South Beach, Miami, watch as 90s supermodels, amazing drag-queens or quirky retirees share historic moments and mingle with Latin culture, 90s fashion boom and day eternal than the equally eternal Florida summer. Today Esteban is no longer a child but a famous stylist whose goal is to give
trendy a touch of good humor, latin charisma and jaunty elegance suitable for everyone. He is the youngest designer to have walked the runway during NYFW – at just 17 years old -, he was the creative director of Emanuel Ungaro’s women’s collections and is the undisputed ambassador of the Resort and endless summer collections.
From this passion for diversity, color, joy and art, an inevitable relationship of affection arises between Esteban and Desigual, which gives rise to a unique collaboration. We work as a brand that gives support to different talents and we present together with the stylist a collection of seventeen garments to rediscover the joy of living.

Have you been dancing for so long?
Inspired by that precocious childhood that saw Esteban grow up surrounded by very different artists and characters, in this campaign we gather a casting that breathes that melting pot typical of South Beach but updated to our days. Here we then find the impressive actress Daniela Santiago, one of the undisputed stars of the successful Spanish series ‘Veneno’; Yendri, the singer of Dominican origin, raised in Italy and winner of one of the most successful television programs in the country; the famous Barcelona model and entrepreneur Biel Juste; the colorful fashion icon and Haitian stylist residing in Cologne, Michelle Elie; the famous Italian model Chiara Scelsi; Brazilian supermodel Jhona Burjak; the drag queen artist Alaska Nebraska; together with a cast made up of different ages, styles and origins to represent, through the eyes of a child, that nerve center that these small hotels were and a party that, we hope, will arrive very soon. The campaign aims to be a burst of energy and remind us that beautiful days of celebration and love are just around the corner.
All through the iconic song ‘Pasilda’ by Afro Medusa, a hit from the 2000s in which dance joins Latin sounds, leading us directly to a world of freedom and dance.
A story that represents diversity and fun, which shows us how the Esteban universe blends with the values of the Desigual brand and which presents the collection that defines summer.

DOUBLE RECOGNITION.
“The artist Valentino Cortázar is my father and, together with my mother, my greatest inspiration. His love of him for colors, women, life and joie de vivre is the leitmotif of his work. I decided to work with him for this collection with a garment that highlights one of the most recurring motifs in all of his work: ‘El Beso’, which he painted in South Beach at that time. In addition, the collection pays homage to the iconic photographer Andy Sweet. Let’s create a patchwork with her images taken in South Beach in the 70s, before the turmoil and madness of the 90s, when the real pioneers of the area now retired from all over the world with their eccentric looks to enjoy the sun of Florida. In addition to images of the emblematic Leslie and Surfcomber hotels, eternal beach moments and art deco architecture. The idea of combining these two motifs and thus creating a patchwork collection seemed to me to be perfect for representing the true frame of what Miami was at the time.

DIFFERENT, VERSATILE, UNISEX, EASY AND SUSTAINABLE.

THE SUN RISES AGAIN.
They say that the crazy twenties are about to arrive … So for this age of parties, love and colors that is approaching, we prepare ourselves properly and with great desire. According to Esteban: “The difficult times we are experiencing have shown us that our responsibility is to share positive energy. I feel comfortable collaborating and listening. The key is to put love in everything you do and be authentic, that’s why I wanted to do something personal for this first collection and reach the public beyond fashion ”.
