Desigual and Colombian designer Esteban Cortázar announce a collaboration

Today a new collaborator is introducing himself to Desigual, a Mediterranean brand inspired by different talents. The designer Esteban Cortázar (Bogotá, 1984), ambassador of summer and resort style, joins the firm with a sustainable Spring / Summer collection based on versatile, timeless and unisex items with 90s cuts and graphic prints and patchwork. A celebration of the joy of life, summer and color. “Cada día es para siempre (Everyday is forever)” he invites us to be reborn and to live.

“For my first collaboration with Desigual I wanted to create something truly personal, that’s why
I was inspired by my childhood spent in the “Glory Days” in South Beach, Miami, during the 90s. Around the News Café, I was able to witness the creative renaissance that characterized this part of Miami Beach at the time. A melting pot of Latin fashion, music, art and warmth with an eclectic mix of incredible people. From artists to eccentric retirees through the boom in gay culture, from drag queens, supermodels, iconic photographers, to the nightclub scene and incredible Latin culture. The collaboration celebrates the endless summer days,
kisses at sunset and the spirit of youth and diversity that marked a very iconic, spontaneous and liberating era seen through the eyes of a precocious child. A collection inspired by the past, designed today and to be remembered forever “.

The collection avails itself of the collaboration of the artist Valentino Cortázar, father of the designer, whose work “El Beso”, an expression of graphic love in pure-colored brushstrokes, created in Miami during that era, is the protagonist of a large part of the collection . In addition, Esteban played with a photographic patchwork of some images taken by the iconic Andy Sweet in the 70s in South Beach. Two contrasting styles that reinforce the freedom, spontaneity, color and warmth with which this collection was conceived.
Stay tuned! Because on May 20 the collection will go on sale and the campaign “Cada día es para siempre (Everyday is forever)” will be unveiled, with the participation of personalities from the world of cinema, art and fashion through which we will relive this era ( and the joy of living). Also, if you want your readers to access the exclusive presale of the collection starting May 14,
