“Opera Orientale” Haute Couture By Filippo Laterza At Altaroma

Filippo Laterza’s collection “Opera Orientale” is a passage between East and West, a journey through cultures and traditions, different styles and different visions of art, a kaleidoscope of different customs and cultures, where innovation and tradition blend together, naturalness and artifice.

The creative journey inspired by the “Silk Road” arrives in the capital of Italian Fashion.

Myths and Eastern become pop art, the Anglo-Saxon tailoring and elegance is dressed in contrasts between orientalism and modernization. Cuts, volumes and shapes of Haute Couture are modernized again. The “Liampu” heart painting by the protagonists of the Peking Opera is carried on dresses, hoods and skirts. A trip to the UK inspired the designer in another part of the collection, Cardiff Castle and Highgrove garden influenced the creation of new fabrics, the Prince of Wales designs are blended with English old roses and all the wonderful flowers garden, brocades and especially fil coupé with special armor, that with the techniques of cutting the untying threads can draw flowers and garlands that seem three-dimensional and embroidered on Prince of Wales and Scots.

The collection, rich in hand-embroidered details, boasts precious French macramé and wet-effect silk velour, precious douchesse and printed velour with drawings of Chinese opera made by the company Seride in Italy. Great importance have Jacquard, brocade in double-face lurex, fil-coupè and devorè fabrics designed by Filippo Laterza for the luxury label MaiDiLang group.

Special thanks to the company Isabel Blasco who has created impalpable lace with lures details and beautiful fringes in silk that give movement to the collection.
